On the former Tupperware site in Aalst, an industrial remnant can be found that is characterised by its shell-shaped shed roofs. The structure functioned as a workshop and warehouse and was enclosed by other buildings. Developers Revive and Matexi asked us to formulate a vision for the structure and to undertake its total restoration. With the restoration, we want to pay respect to the shed as a landmark, as a façade and as a platform for the public domain along the omnipresent river Dender.

The serious structural damage led us to add a new slender steel structure to the inside of the concrete structure. The concrete has been repaired and the drainage optimised. We have provided the sheds with austere functional and architectural lighting. The whole had to have a sober and slender appearance, drawing attention to the design of the original industrial structure.
