At B, we have since long maintained a strong tradition of athletic team activities for charity. This year, we are loosening our legs once again. During the Ascension weekend from 18 to 21 May, we will participate in the 1,000 km for Kom op tegen Kanker with two teams of eight B-cyclists.
Our teams are in full preparation to boost their fitness to the maximum by the start of the event. In addition, our colleagues are organising various activities to raise money.
But we are going for more. That is why we are calling on you to support our participating teams. The concept is simple: to be able to start, we need to raise 5,500 euros per team (11,000 euros in total). You can support us by:
- donating online via our team page or by scanning the QR code above.
- making a donation to the account number of Kom op tegen Kanker BE14 7331 9999 9983, stating "GIFT" and our team's nine-digit code: 170253816. The notice at the bottom of the transfer is important.
From 40 euros a year, a donation is tax-deductible.
We would like to thank you in advance for your support! Those who want to come and encourage our teams, we expect at the Grote Markt in Mechelen. We are looking forward to giving our best.
Each year, the proceeds of the 1,000 km go to scientific cancer research. Kom op tegen Kanker works with five-year plans. In the past five years, for instance, they have focused on a smoke-free environment; in the next five years, they will focus on prevention of alcohol consumption and obesity, among other things. In 2021, they collected a whopping 35.81 million euros. For every 10 euros, less than 2 euros goes towards investment in fundraising and the organisation's operations. 56% goes to cancer research (detection, cure), 35% to psychosocial care.
